It has always been in Amy's heart that someday she would open a salon with a purpose. After working for other salon owners since 2004, as a hair color specialist, she needed to do things differently. Amy is a lover of humans, animals and the environment. She wanted that love to be the foundation of a.salon.

Everyday Amy gets to make humans feel like the best version of themselves, use only cruelty free products for the protection of animals and recycle 95.5% of all the salon waste for the environment!

Creating a space that is peaceful, non-toxic, welcoming and full of positive energy has been amazing! Amy is also a wife to her business partner Rudy and mama to her human boy Van and rescued fur baby Bunny the dog.

Amy splits her time between Pilsen and Lincoln Park. 

JR has loved playing with hair since he was a young child. While my younger sister (Yvette) wanted to shoot hoops or practice martial arts on him, he would make her have their parents buy Barbies just so he could play with their hair. A little later, his sister became a living doll and he would cut, style and color her hair with NO training. JR owes his success to her. He never knew that she would become an amazing hair colorist... After formal training, JR spent years behind the chair and has had the opportunity to work onstage at hair shows, photoshoots and "featured" work. JR's work has been featured in the "O" magazine where he got to create a "makeover" for a chosen woman who had a "struggle." It is important for JR to NOT only bring out the someone's external beauty, but to also translate that beauty internally. You can book with him at our Pilsen location. Yvette started working in the hair industry in 1997 at Art and Science Salon. She went from receptionist, to assistant/ apprentice and then Color Specialist (2001). In 2012, Yvette decided to join a new team of hair specialists at Edit Salon, where she spent the next 7 years of her career. She has spent her entire career working next to her brother (JR) who she and countless others consider a HAIR GURU. After 22 years in the industry, which includes 18 years behind the chair, Yvette still loves specializing in color. At a.salon, she has found the environment and atmosphere that she has been searching for after all these years. She's inspired by the a.salon space/team and Pilsen's diverse culture. Yvette is excited to be a part of a team of people that are eco-conscious and part of a movement that is making a positive contribution to our world. Stephanie has been a stylist for 10+ years excelling in hair design. After getting her cosmetology license in 2012, she worked as a stylist while earning a bachelor’s degree in theatre. Her background in technical theatre and fine art has enhanced her eye for hair cutting and styling. Stephanie loves to juxtapose lived-in softness with precision lines. She’s drawn to tousled pixies, whimsy shags, and beachy long-haired tresses. She’s been trained by Paul Mitchell, Joico, Wella, Kevin Murphy, and Aveda. 

When Stephanie isn’t cutting hair, she’s just trying to keep her house plants alive, paint canvases that never get hung up on the wall or go on roadtrips with her adventure cat, Artemis. She enjoys connecting one-on-one with her clients and seeing them radiate joy from their new look. You can book with Stephanie at our Pilsen location. 

Natalie has always loved doing hair. When she was younger she would practice and experiment on her sister’s hair. Shortly after finishing a year of college, she realized her true passion was in the beauty industry. Natalie then signed up for cosmetology school and graduated from Tricoci University in 2016. While she enjoys all hair color services, she especially loves highlighting and balayage. Natalie has two bulldogs and enjoys her days off hanging with friends watching football. You can book with her in Pilsen as well as Lincoln park. 

In 2007 Mickey enrolled at the Paul Mitchell School unsure of what they wanted from it. They quickly realized that they loved making people feel comfortable in their own skin and more like their true selves. As a non-binary person Mickey's goal behind the chair is to help people feel empowered through controlling their own image, free of judgment or industry opinions of how they "should" look. Mickey also loves helping people embrace and love their curls through education on how to care for their hair, as well as helping create a shape that is complementary to their curls. Mickey splits their time between Lincoln Park and Pilsen. 

Nada is originally from Indiana. After graduating from Tricoci Beauty University in 2016, she decided to start working in her favorite city, Chicago. Deciding to work in Chicago was the best decision Nada has made. She has worked with some great stylists and learned so much along the way.

Nada loves haircuts, styling, and extensions. However, her favorite part of her career is making people feel good about themselves and helping them gain confidence! Nada looks forward to her journey ahead at a.salon in Pilsen and cannot wait to meet some new people!

Sharyl has been making Chicago beautiful at J. Gordon Designs since 1978. As J. Gordon’s longest standing employee, the salon atmosphere is like home and she loves her clientele. Sharyl specializes in natural colors, highlights and all over color. While cutting hair, she expresses her creativity with all hair types. She’s passionate about making her clients’ hair easily manageable at home so the salon look can be maintained between appointments. 

Sharyl’s work has been featured in Modern Salon Magazine multiple times. Sharyl finds inspiration for new techniques and trends by attending classes and educational events across the country. Sharyl is booking in Lincoln Park. 

Salma is a chicagoan who works at our Pilsen location. Salma has been in the industry since 2017. She is a well rounded colorist, from all over colors, bright blondes, natural balayage but really enjoys doing fun creative colors and corrective services. She is now part of the education team and oversees the assistants who are interested in color.

Jess joins us from Boston, Massachusetts. She has been behind the chair for 10 years. Since she could remember, she’s always wanted to make people feel comfortable and more confident. Following in her family’s footsteps of previous hairstylists, Jess went on to study cosmetology after high school. Working on Newbury street in Boston, then moving to Chicago, we’re excited to have her on our team!
