our story

A progressive salon concept, combining an innovative social environment with superior cut and color services, Chicago colorist Amy Moser and her husband Rudy invite guests to experience a.salon and its mission of making “beauty simplified.” Our salon is environmentally conscious, cruelty free and vegan friendly.

Amy Daniel-Moser

Amy has worked as a color specialist for 15 years at three highly rated salons: Edit Salon (Chicago), JUUT Salon (Minneapolis), and Art + Science (Chicago). Her love of making people feel beautiful has made her a highly sought after colorist. As well as being a color specialist, Amy has +15 years experience as a freelance makeup artist, working with some Chicago’s top photographers. She completed her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from Columbia College Chicago before attending cosmetology school in 2003. Amy has teamed up with her husband (Rudy) to create a.salon. 

Rudy Moser

Rudy has an undergraduate degree from Robert Morris University and MBA from the University of Minnesota. As business professional, Rudy has worked for companies such as Dyson, Electrolux and Umbra.  

Together, their vision is to keep beauty simplified by only providing world class cut, color and make-up services at a.salon. 

Creating a.salon with a purpose 
a.salon is environmentally conscious, cruelty free and vegan friendly. Caring about the environment and being animal lovers, Amy and Rudy picked product lines that aren’t tested on animals or harmful to the environment. As a member of Green Circle Salons, a.salon recycles up to 95% of all waste, including hair, foils and color byproducts. KEVIN.MURPHY & Eleven Australia product lines are packaged in 100% recycled plastic.  KEVIN.MURPHY has transitioned to using recycled ocean plastic in 2019. Both lines are paraben-free and cruelty-free, with sulphate free and vegan friendly options. 

Amy and Rudy care about their own health and the health of the clients at a.salon.  Therefore, they picked the color line COLOR.ME by Kevin Murphy that is ammonia and PPD free (PPD -ParaPhenylenDiamine is the cause of many scalp irritations and allergic reactions during the coloring process). 

Amy and Rudy are Pilsen residents and proud to invest in the local community. Their community efforts include hiring locally for their design/architecture, wood/metal workers, and many in the construction team.  Local artists are featured on a rotational basis.
